Tim Steiner on global perspectives in grocery ecommerce at this year’s GroceryShop

Ocado Group’s CEO, Tim Steiner, joined GroceryShop 2025 in Las Vegas for a keynote fireside chat with Chris Walton, Co-CEO of Omni Talk, titled “Bringing it home: Ocado’s global perspectives on grocery ecommerce.”

During his keynote session, Tim shared his perspectives on universal truths across geographies when it comes to global grocery ecommerce, drawing on Ocado’s own experiences and evolution from a pioneering online grocery retailer to a global technology solutions provider for 13 international grocery retailers. 

Speaking to a global audience of retailers and innovators, Tim explored how successful online grocery retailers are leveraging an ecosystem of fulfilment options, aligned with their market dynamics and growth ambitions.

“There isn't one size fits all”, Steiner said.“ The shopper wants you to be everywhere.”

He explained how Ocado Group is making that a reality through the right mix of fulfilment options – from large automated Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs), to In-Store Fulfilment and store automation.

“You know, you just have to look at what it is you're doing, what you're trying to do, what you've proven you can do, and make the right investments,” he added.

Tim also emphasised how Ocado Group utilises decades of operational expertise and know-how, alongside investments in Re:imagined innovation to empower global grocery retailers to deliver exceptional customer experiences – underpinned by the right blend of fulfilment options for their business and ambitions.
