"Today's [Melbourne CFC] opening signals a major step change in our online grocery deliveries that will offer our customers greater choice, better availability, improved freshness and more flexible delivery options. We sought the best global technology in the world to reimagine the Coles Online experience here in Australia."
"The improvements and experience and efficiency they have achieved thus far further validates our decision made in 2019 to partner strategically with Ocado Group. We look forward to bringing their leading technology and differentiated service to the Australian market very soon."
Partnership Milestones
In August 2024, Coles announced the launch of two Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) in Melbourne and Sydney.
In September 2024, Coles marked the start of another exciting chapter, opening the first Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Melbourne, Victoria, bringing together world-class technology and automation to enhance the shopping experience for Coles Online customers. The site will serve the greater Melbourne region, home to more than five million people, and will offer better availability, fewer substitutions, an increased range of products and improvements in the shelf-life of staples.
Next day home delivery orders from stores in Melbourne and Sydney are expected to be transitioned to the CFCs by the end of December, with further growth thereafter.
